THE MERCIFUL GOD
BIBLE TEXT: LUKE 7: 37-48
Luke.7.37 Just then a woman of the village, the town harlot, having learned that Jesus was a guest in the home of the Pharisee, came with a bottle of very expensive perfume (MSB)
Luke.7.38 and stood at his feet, weeping, raining tears on his feet. Letting down her hair, she dried his feet, kissed them, and anointed them with the perfume. (MSB)
Luke.7.39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man was the prophet I thought he was, he would have known what kind of woman this is who is falling all over him." (MSB)
Luke.7.48 Then he spoke to her: "I forgive your sins." (MSB)
We live in a judgemental world where we define people by their mistakes. We are quick to cast the stone because we sin differently, it's even worse when we let them know what we think about their sinful ways without hesitation.
Everywhere we look, we have one or two people we don't mind judging. The single mother, the immoral woman, the drug addict, the drunk, etc.
We have to be careful not to misrepresent God to others: God hates sins, but He loves sinners and want them to come to repentance.
When a sinner has repented and decided to live a regenerated life God no longer sees them as sinners or address them by their sins. We indeed serve a Merciful God.
Do you have a sin you need to repent from? God is waiting in love for you to come out of that sin. God sent His only begotten son to die for our sins.
MEMORY VERSE FOR THE DAY
Isa.55.7 Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. (NIV)
DECLARATION
I'm a son/daughter of God Most High, and I have a Merciful Father. I understand that God does not judge me or define me by my sins when I repent of them. I have chosen to live a righteous life to please my Father who loves me so much and sent His beloved son to die for my sins. I'm the beloved of the Lord Hallelujah.
