FORGIVENESS THE PATHWAY TO PEACE

BIBLE TEXT: 1SAM 24: 13-22

1Sam.24.13 As that old proverb says, `From evil people come evil deeds.' So you can be sure I will never harm you. (NLT)

1Sam.24.15 May the LORD judge which of us is right and punish the guilty one. He is my advocate, and he will rescue me from your power!" (NLT)

1Sam.24.17 And he said to David, "You are a better man than I am, for you have repaid me good for evil. (NLT)

So many people think forgiveness is overated; they believe it is justifying the wicked and trivializing offences.

True forgiveness is a process that may look foolish at first, but the end result is peace. A wise man once said forgiveness is setting a prisoner free and discovering the prisoner is yourself.

When you forgive people you allow God handle the judgement, and you ultimately open yourself to light and healing. Saul was consumed by rage and bitterness against David all his life, he left his assignment as a king as ultimately self-destroy. David on the other hand chose the path of peace, and was able to focus on his goals and fulfil his ambitions.

God does not want you to live in bitterness, being unforgiving will hold you back from moving beyond the past. When you focus all your attention on past hurt you become incapable of receiving the gift of the present.

Phil.3.13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, (NLT)

DECLARATION

I'm a son/daughter of God Most High, and I seek to obey my Father. Forgiveness is a choice I made, because I know it will take me beyond the past, and deliver the gift of the present to me. I embrace the peace of God, and let go of bitterness from the past. I'm surrounded by the peace of God Hallelujah.
